Because You loved me first, I can breathe the breath of life
and because You loved me first, I can see with freshly opened eyes.

Because You loved me first, I can show to others kindness; and because You loved me first, I can speak of purity and loveliness.

Because You loved me first, I am able to walk gracefully and assured; and because you loved me first, I can all trials steadfastly endure.

Because You loved me first, I am grateful for Your unspeakable gifts; and because You loved me first, I am smiling as though I have been secretly kissed.

Because You loved me first, I am free from the bondages of sin; and because You loved me first, for eternity with You I will spend.

And when I hunger for food that cannot be grown upon this earth; I come to You because You loved me first.

And when I cannot be satisfied with water to quench my burning thirst; I come to You because You loved me first.

And when my heart is full, longings satisfied from that glorious search; I come to You because You loved me first.

And when I think this love of Yours has surely run it's course; I come to You because You loved me first.

And when this precious life of mine has been completed upon this earth; I come to You because You loved me first.
