Song Lyrics
(My heart is filled with great sadness, and that's what inspired this song. A friend I grew up with- a neighborhood friend, has endured so much. She's only 34 and has struggled with MS for years now. Although not hereditary, she watched her father battle the disease until it claimed him. Just Monday, her lifetime companion, friend, and husband, dropped dead of a heart attack. Although with her mother, she has lost a piece of her heart. She has lost the one who knew her best; who took her to countless doctor's appointments and was there, loving her, for the beautiful person she IS. I pray, and if you're so inclined, please do the same, for her to get the strength she needs and the comfort she needs from God, from her family and friends. I ask the angels to come to her side at night, as she lies in bed with him no longer beside her, to brush away her tears, kiss her cheek, and let her know that everything will be okay. Thanks for reading...Ellen)
She's Tired
She didn't think it could get any worse than this.
Now she's remembering love's last kiss.
Her road's been long and full of trials,
but she always managed to share a smile.
Alone in her room surrounded by
his clothes, his scent- he didn't say goodbye.
He was her legs when she couldn't walk.
He was her voice when she couldn't talk.
Chorus:
She's tired, so tired of the fight.
As another day bleeds into night.
Her tears won't stop and she closes her eyes,
askin' over again, Why, God. Why?
She's tired - not because she doesn’t sleep.
It's the rocky path beneath her feet.
I pray for God to take her hand.
Wipe her tears- give her the strength to stand.
She's tired Lord. She's so tired.
I remember her as a little girl-
so full of fun, a joy to the world.
Then Daddy died when she was very young,
and mother was there for daughter and son.
Always walked with her head held high-
givin' to others in the blink of an eye.
But then the very thing that took her Dad,
found a place in her- but she never got mad.
Bridge:
I lift my prayer to you God-
as I think of her sweet face.
Please be the voice when she needs to talk
and be her legs when she needs to walk.
Please wipe the tears from her cryin' eyes-
when she wants to quit, when she asks you why.
Awaken her heart Lord, cause she's so tired.
Awaken her heart Lord, cause she's so tired.
Now she misses him, he's gone for good
like a piece of her heart just turned to wood.
She struggles just to walk across the way.
A piece of metal her companion for the day.
The spark in her eyes, no longer there-
a hollowness fills her empty stare.
It breaks my heart to see her like this-
Dear God please send her an angel's kiss.
Awaken her heart, Lord. She's so tired.
