God's Gift Of Love
I stood looking upon the hill
Over looking Galgotha
Where once a cruel cross was erected
That held the body of our Dear Savior
Three nails penetrated his hands and feet
A thorny crown pierced his head
The blood ran from his brow
A sword cut into his fleshy side
I could almost hear the mournful cry
Of the Roman Soldier as he held the cloak
Of the man they chose to crucify
In his heart he knew that this man was special
The man others taunted and made fun of
Then I stood outside the borrowed tomb
And wondered what it was like
As the sun set on the fateful day
No burial preparations were made
They just laid him there on the cold hard stone
There on the door of the tomb I read
"He is not here, He is risen?"
Then I remembered the promise he had given
Death could not hold him as he said
Victory over death was his for he has risen
Our salvation was paid for on that cross
By God when he gave his only Begotten Son
My tears fell like rain as I stood outside the empty tomb
And thanked God for his gift of love.
