I still do…

It’s so easy to say I do,
Wide eyed, walking on cloud nine—
Young at heart, carefree, and just so in love.
Easily persuaded, all will work out fine.
But, honeymoons don’t last very long.
Trouble oft alters the lyrics of love songs.
The unfamiliar and the unexpectedness of life,
For many lead to hard toil amid stress and strife.
But then again, we knew that from the get go.
Life is not always like a river with a smooth flow.
But, at times as raging rapids with hidden rough spots,
Painful predicaments, and difficult choices.
What began a fairytale can quickly turn nightmare.
With hurt so deep, there is little love left to share.
But a little love is yet enough love to hold on to.
And it will take that love to be able to say—
Despite it all, Baby, I still do.
Through all life’s changing, I still do.
In unexpected rearranging, I still do.
No matter the test or trial, I still do.
During hurt or through smiles, I still do.
In trying years, I still do.
Together in tears facing fears, I still do.
Down to nil, I still do.
Gone be youthful thrills, I still do.
Yes, my darling. Yes to you, I still do.

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
