His Voice


I was working hard one day,
I had so much to do!
My phone rang. It was a friend,
"I really need to talk with you." She said.

My mind raced, I made face,
I thought "Oh no, anytime but now".
Then I heard a small voice say,
"But, I took time for you my child".

Putting my work aside,
I listened to my dear friend.
We shared, we laughed,
We cried, at last we prayed. Amen!

I looked around at all my work undone,
It didn't seem as important as it once did.
I heard the small voice say,
"Child, it was you that was blessed this day".

"My voice comes in many ways."
" in the distressed call of a friend,
the homeless looking for a helping hand,
the lonely looking for a friend,
the hungry in need of bread,
the widow sitting alone,
a child that needs attention,
a stranger, needing a smile."

"When you get to busy, remember words like these,"
"To be a child of mine, you must take care of all of these"!
