Faith
In Colossians 1:15-16 the Bible says:
"Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through Him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see and the things we cannot see - such as the thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through Him and for Him."
These verses declare the supremacy of God in Christ Jesus His Son, on Whom the fullness of the Deity lived in bodily form. (Colossians 2:9-10).
"For in Christ, the fullness of God lives in bodily form. And you have been given fullness in Christ Who is the Head over every ruler and authority."
The supremacy of God is shown in His Son, our LORD Jesus Christ. He is the Sovereign Character of God. All powerful, omnipotent, all-knowing independent, supreme, eternal, self-existent, glorious, and all-holy.
To be "sovereign" means God has absolute power. His Divinity does not depend on anything, not on the level of our faith or the position we have in the body of believers. To be sovereign is to have full control on what God wants done and what His purpose is. He is God and He will accomplish what He has always intended.
Therefore it is unthinkable that a person can pretend to be a child of God and get away with it, penetrating the Body of Christ to deceive and do evil without any probability of being exposed, corrected, or eliminated. We must remember that God is the real Shepherd and He is the One Who protects His sheep from wolves or from evil forces. His Sovereign Power covers all who have put their faith in Him and in His Promise: "Never will I leave you nor forsake you." (Hebrews 13:5b)
As Sovereign LORD, God keeps us safe from the evil one. We are molded into His image by the work of the Holy Spirit Who indwells us at the moment of Salvation, when we received Jesus Christ into our hearts as LORD and Savior. The Holy Spirit never leaves us when we fail, but He is grieved by our sin. The Holy Spirit is also the One Who convicts us of sin and moves us to repent and return to God. That is why a child of God CANNOT remain in sin.
"We know that God's children do not make a practice of sinning, for God's Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them."
(1 John 5:18)
"We know that the Son of God has come and given us understanding so that we can know the True God. And now we live in fellowship with the True God because we live in fellowship with His Son,
Jesus Christ. He is the only True God and He is eternal life." (1 John 5:20)
Because Christ lives in us through the Holy Spirit, and He has been given power over every evil, we too have that authority and power through Him. We bind evil through that power given by God in Christ. We speak the Gospel with that same power and we declare the good news of Salvation with the Sovereignty of the King of kings, LORD of lords. Evil cannot triumph nor can it overcome that power because of the Sovereignty of the God behind it. "Without Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5)
"If you remain in Me and My Words remain in you, you may ask for anything and it will be given."
(John 15:7)
"I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done, and even do greater works because I am going to be with the Father." (John 14:12)
The Sovereign LORD Jesus Christ still does His work through us. We cannot be separated from that Power nor from that Love because "nothing in all creation can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus." (Romans 8:29)
The Sovereign God Who called us into His kingdom by His mercy and grace, will never revoke that call.
"For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable."
(Romans 11:29)
Let us thank God that He is Sovereign LORD and Ruler of everything, that He know our hearts and will complete His work in us. Let us rejoice that He is the Eternal Powerful Everlasting Father able to keep us from falling.
"Now all glory to God, Who is able, through His mighty Power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus through generations forever and ever. Amen!"
(Ephesians 3:20)
We are saved forever in Christ because the Bible says "but because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood. Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He ever lives to intercede for them."
(Hebrews 7:24-25)
