Humor
(I have reviewed a many Christian articles, in my life time. Many very good and some not so good. With this in mind,I thought a littler "tong-n-cheek" absurdity would be good for our Christian experience. In other words, these phrases are strictly given as a figure of speech. It is implied that the statements are only humorously intended and it should not be taken at face value.)
I have been in many places, in the Christian World, but I've never been IN CAHOOTS. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. How hard is it to get any two people to voluntarily agree, when it comes to today's religion ? And, how hard is it to get a consensus of opinion, within any church conference?
I've also never been IN COGNITO. I hear no one recognizes you there. Doesn't this hold so true, in the church world. Especially, when you are visiting a new local church, and the "meet and greet" comes along.
I have, however, been IN SANE. They don't have an airport for this. You have to be driven there. If you are like me, you've probably made numerous trips there, thanks to the many friends in our church circles. How many times have you heard the old cliché, proclaimed, " stop the insanity". Especially, when you voluntarily suggest a new church function.
I would like to go TO CONCLUSION, but you have to jump, and I'm not much on physical activity anymore. Especially, jumping up and over those high back church pews.
I have never been IN DOUBT. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there. Especially, when it comes to my Christianity.
I've been IN FLEXIBLE, but only when it was very important to stand firm, in this politically correct Christian society.
Sometimes I'm IN CAPABLE, and I go there more often as I'm getting older. In the church world, regarding decisions, I've probably made more bad ones than good. However, I always try to lean from my mistakes, for the betterment of my Christian walk.
One of my favorite places to be is IN SUSPENSE! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart. At my age I need all the stimuli I can get. Anticipating, God's prophecy is worth it all.
And more and more, as I get older, I think of the HERE AFTER. Many a time, in fact, I've enter a church business meeting and think " What am I here after?" Comes with old age, huh.
Well! Just a little levity here.
After all, we Christians are the only sect to be rejoicing, in this current political environment, with which we are living. The Apostle Paul, writing under the direction of the Holy Spirit, says it this way,
"And be not conformed to this world: but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God".(Romans 12:2)
You see, we who love the Lord, are a transformed people. A people who are not taken back by the happenings this fallen world has to offer mankind. We are a people whom are renewed daily, by God's Holy Spirit.
A young child was once over heard as saying, "my mule must have grandpa's religion, cause he always has a long face, just like my grandpa".
So, come on fellow believer. Laugh a little and enjoy the fellowship of your fellow believers. And, don't be ashamed to shout " Praise The Lord" every once in awhile.
Praise the LORD! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dancing; praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD". (Psalm 150:1-6)
Amen!
