Stress - it envelopes a human being’s existence in the 21st century. Amidst all the technological advancements, we have equally advanced in the area of stress: work, home, city-life, life itself, global warming, traffic, bad road manor. These are some of the areas where we may find ourselves in duress. Sadly, the list is endless. Sometimes even our vacations are littered with them (though we all expect our vacations to be an escape from that!). We are all familiar to stress.

How do we manage and overcome stress at progressLane?

We turn our stressful situations into a source of strength. The same power that causes our stress can be the same power that gives you strength. A new perspective gives us a key through which we learn the ability to transform a negative emotion into a positive one.

- Deadline versus finish line. Deadlines are a common source of stress. Most of us look at this as an impending dooms day, but a runner looks at the finish line as the goal. Same possibility exists at the end but with different perspectives. If we meet the deadline, we’re good (we have better chances of keeping our jobs). If we finish the race (and we are trying to finish first are we not?), we can win. How is it that we approach the finish line in a manner different from approaching a deadline?

- Difficult person: Oh yes, we all have at least 1 in our lives! The one that gives us jitters, the one that causes a blip in our hearts whenever we hear their name. The bulls eyes in our dart boards as we throw the pin. Though sometimes they have legitimate reasons for why they are the way they are, it is never an excuse. But would our view change in any way if we learn that deep inside their world is falling apart, they are crying a river at night, they are weathering a Category 5 hurricane in their lives?

- Impossible situation: This is my favorite! I get this every day. Most people would say that God wouldn’t give you anything you cannot handle. I beg to differ. God would give you what you cannot handle so that you would turn over the keys and let Him finish the drive. He’s building our character by giving us an opportunity to grow our trust in Him. Some of you may not trust Him very much, every Friday, I hope to share with you what brought me to trusting Him as much as I do. To me, impossible situations are great because that’s where I am sure that God will make Himself evident.

At progressLane, every situation is a stepping stone, is an opportunity to grow, is a building block of our future, may it be a good or bad event. We will cry and sit with you, if that is what you need, but we will encourage you to look at difficult situations with a new perspective.
