Everyone no matter how isolated one may be has a friend. Have you ever wondered how your life would be without your friends? How would the world be if friends did not exist? I was just reflecting on the kind of friends God has blessed me with and I wanted to share with you all.

Not everyone has been fortunate to belong to a well-to-do family or have extraordinary qualities that would merit extreme acknowledgement but one great gift God has blessed everyone with that most people usually take for granted is friends. Jesus of course, is the best friend one can ever have hence he uses people as vessels to express his great care and affection for us.

At every step of the way, God has placed some specific people in our lives for specific reasons. Some way, somehow, our paths have crossed those of some people who have turned our lives around. Have you ever had this experience where you really asked God for His help in something and God brought you this special someone to help you out? Most of the time, when we are counting our blessings, we only consider the ‘big’ things like scholarships, new possessions or jobs. We sometimes forget that some of the greatest gifts God has bestowed on us are packaged as friends.

Take a moment and think of your friends. You would realize that they are all different; each one is uniquely perfect for specific situations, different in temperaments, strengths and weaknesses-each one placed in the puzzle of your life to give it a complete meaningful picture. God has provided each one for particular reasons and for a set season. Some come into our lives and leave, not because they are bad friends, but because their time is up. For everything has its season to function. With some of us, we would not know God as much as we do now if it wasn’t for the friends we made.

Some friends come to test us, some come to strengthen us, some come to refine us, and some come to fulfill us. Either way, they build you up and toughened you up against the odds that would later rise up in your life. Why don’t you take a moment and thank God for the gift of friends? Bless His name for such wonderful gifts.

Everyone wants to have good friends but it first begins with us being good friends. The Bible admonishes us to love our neighbors like ourselves. Whatever you wish your friends would do for you, why don’t you try doing it yourself? Let’s selflessly serve our friends without expecting something in return. Appreciate their worth in your life. Tell them how much they mean to you. Bless God daily for their lives. Be the good friend you want to have.

Friends are lovely- like different flavors of candy. Keep them close and take care of them. They are in your life to make it better. But don’t ignore your best friend, Jesus. Tell Him how much you love Him every morning and thank Him for keeping you company throughout the day. No matter how busy your schedule, don’t forget to spend some quality with Him. It keeps your friendship healthy and strong.

Celebrate the lives of your friends. Let God know that you appreciate this wonderful gift.
