Jesus gives us a major warning about the Edomites and how they got blended in with the Jews. That warning is in Revelation 2:9. “I know your afflictions and your poverty-yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not but are a synagogue of Satan.” Those from the seed of Esau are not Jews and through the Canaanite covenant with Baalberith are of the devil.

In the 8th chapter of John Jesus is discussing being freed from sin. A certain group takes this to mean being freed from physical captivity. They state to Jesus that they were never under captivity yet they are from the house of Abraham. This is a clear indication that they are not from the house of Israel. Only the house of Israel was under the captivity of the Egyptians. They state their father was Abraham which is correct.

Herod, the King of Judea, ordered a proclamation that all infants two years and younger killed. Herod was not an Israelite but was an Edomite. The reason for this is the soothsayers said a new King of the Jews had been born. Herod had been a popular king, having been responsible for building the Second Temple. He also had many other construction projects done under his rule. He was known as Herod the Great. His son Herod Antipas became the next King of Judea.

Moving a few years ahead after being brought before Pilate Jesus was then sent to Herod Antipas. Herod Antipas questioned Jesus for some time. Jesus would not even speak to him. If you remember this is the same situation where we saw Jesus refusing to even acknowledge the Canaanite woman. Jesus did not acknowledge Herod Antipas because he was an Edomite descended from the condemned line of Esau just as his father Herod the Great had been. The Edomites were not from the House of Israel.

Jesus then says, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God, and now am here. I have not come on my own, but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. Yet because I tell the truth you do not believe me. (John 8:42-45) You can see why the Edomites are eternally condemned. It is because of the devil who portrays the truth as a lie, and the lie as the truth.


Paul teaches in Romans 9:4,5, “They are Israelites, and to them belong the sonship, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; to them belong the patriarchs, and of our race, according to the flesh of Christ, God who is over all be blessed forever. Amen. The Edomites are in the plan of the devil. In Matthew 15:24, “he (Jesus) answers I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” Again, the Edomites might be physically from the house of Abraham but they are not from the house of Israel.

You can now see the Edomites have blended in with the Jews to the point that we’re not able to recognize them. Then Jesus tells us that there are Jews in the synagogue who really aren’t Jews and are in the synagogue of Satan. Jesus then addresses a group in Jerusalem as the sons of the devil. When we add it all up we get Edomites posing as Jews. The Edomites are not God’s chosen people.

I would like to present a little more information on circumcision so that you understanding the act of circumcision is not what pleases God.

Titus 1:10 For there are many rebellious people, mere talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision group.

Romans 2:28-29 A man is not a Jew if he is only one outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a man is a Jew if he is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code.

Romans 2:28-29 in the New Oxford Annotated Bible. For he is not a real Jew who is one outwardly, nor is true circumcision something external and physical. He is a Jew who is one inwardly, and the real circumcision is a matter of the heart, spiritual and not literal. His praise is not from men but from God.

You can clearly see by the mere act of being circumsized did not make an Edomite a Jew. It could not have been in their hearts because their souls belonged to the Devil.
