There were eight children of a good Father. He lived in a big house on the edge of the Blue Marble. The children were between the ages of 7 to 12. They began testing Father many a day. The Good Father had discussed with his children on being good and not squabble with each other. He found the children did not heed his words and fought with each other frequently.
His children's names were chosen for the country they were born. In the playground area they would be found. China, Japan, and North Korea were enjoying a jump rope game. Russia and Iran were playing war games. Europe, Israel and the USA were kicking a soccer ball back and forth to each other.
Suddenly, Iran got up and pushed at Europe because Europe accidently kicked the soccer ball which hit Iran in the back!
Now this made USA mad! So USA pushed Iran back! Iran hit Israel which made USA more angry! USA stomped on Iran's toes and Iran wailed ever so loud.
China was watching from a out of reach distance. Japan walked up closer to take pictures. North Korea was cheering on the sidelines. Iran and Russia stood bantering words against USA and Israel.
Europe decided to use compromise and stood in the middle of the fight.
Europe boldly spoke, "Hold on! No more fighting! This is not nice!"
So Russia hit Europe in the nose! Europe's nose bled as he laid on the ground crying.
The play ground was filled with yelling, crying, and threatening.
North Korea decided to take advantage of the incident and by using the tip of his shoe began drawing a line in the sand. North Korea gestured to Iran to come over to him. Iran cautiously walked over and Iran whispered in his ear.
Japan was on the lookout for the Father. From a distance Japan saw him. He ran to the others in warning, "Shhh, Dad's coming!"
Everyone rushed to their jump ropes, soccer ball, and inspecting their bikes with the appearance of innocence. Father walked up and said, "What is all this commotion, I can hear all of you a million miles away!"
Russia and Iran ranted, "They started it!" as they pointed at the USA, Israel, and Europe.
The retort from USA, Israel, and Europe, "No! YOU started it!" As if saying it louder made them more innocent. USA rushed up to Iran and pushed Iran! Russia got in the middle of Iran and the USA.
"You started it! Your doing it again!" as Russia raised his fist in warning to USA.
China, Japan, and North Korea stood outside the quarrel to take notes and pictures of this historical fight. They murmured among themselves.
Father stepped in, "Hold it! hold IT! HOLD IT!!!! Silence, ALL OF YOU, NOW! I am going to tell you once more and that is it! You get along or I will come out here and commence spankings! I expect you to get along with each other! Russia, Iran, get over there for a 5 minute time out."
Russia and Iran shrugged and dragged their feet over to the right side of the play area.
"USA, Israel, Europe, you three over there for 5 minutes!" They kept their eyes on Russia and Iran.
China was sneaking messages to North Korea with Japan looking on.
Father turned to these three, "you kids move over there!"
"Let me have whatever your sneaking behind your back, North Korea!"
There was a silence on the play area for one minute. Hostile looks, sticking out tongues, making faces, was not missed by Father.
Father said, "What did I just say?!"
All reported, "Get along or else.." as grimaces and downward cast looks and deep sighs ran its course.
Father sat on the porch for 5 minutes. He then marked the 5 minutes and got up from his chair to address the children.
"Okay! How about returning to play and no more fights! Or what?"
All echoed, "Spankings!"
"Who gets the spankings?" Father asked.
"We do..all of us." They droned with voices fading.
"Don't make me come back out here!" Father warned.
Father went back inside to read the newspaper. He listened for sounds from the playground. He heard not a naughty sound for miles. He took a breath and continued reading.
On the play ground the scene was different. There were dead stares with expressions of, 'I'll get even with you!' pointing, gestures of throat cutting, sounds of explosions of an atomic bomb going off, and 'you just try!' North Korea drew a line in the sand.
"You guys better get along or dad will be back, and I am not going to get a spanking because of you!" Japan hissed.
So off to each corner the little groups went. Each looked pleased as punch with themselves. Murmuring in whispers with plans, plots, and conspiracy.
One by one they left the playground to reconvene out of Father's earshot. Two blocks from Father's House they met to face one another. The fight was restarted in pressured speech to keep the volume of noise low. They did not think Father could hear or so they thought.
