Don't Worry About Whatever May Happen!

Now God had brought Daniel into the favour and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. Daniel 1:9 (NKJV)

Disaster had struck! Judah had been invaded. The Babylonians carried out articles of treasure and along with the plunder of the land, the king ordered that some of the king's descendants and nobles be taken with them. Along with this number was Daniel.

Given the circumstances, it would must have been awful for these young men to be snatched from their families and taken to a foreign land. But Daniel had determined in his heart that he was going to serve God (Daniel 1:8). He was not going to let his circumstances or his surroundings install fear into his heart. His eyes were firmly set upon his God.

It was just as well that Daniel did not look at what was going on around him. In all circumstances, he trusted and relied on God. Numerous times, his life was threatened in the most terrifying ordeals, but Daniel remained stood on his rock – the God of his salvation. Ephesians 6:13-14, reminds us to put on our armour of Christ and then to stand firm. Remain standing. Do all that you can to remain standing. Do not let your feet be moved. It's a determination to be rooted on the rock of Christ.

It's a known fact that our feelings will follow our decisions. Likewise, what we speak influences how we feel and what we do. Do not let negativity cower your life just because of your circumstances and difficulties. God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), so take joy in the fact that He has not abandoned you. Life will constantly throw things at you to try and steer you from your course. It always seems that not just one difficulty comes at a time but a whole barrage of difficulties. But remember Jesus endured the cross (how excruciating it must have been) because of the joy set before Him (Heb 12:2).

What is that joy? For Jesus, He knew where He would shortly be – with the Father. What about us? Whatever our circumstances, let our joy be from Christ who promises to never leave nor forsake us (Heb 13:5). No matter what's going on around us, nobody should be able to determine what's going on on the inside.

Prayer:
Thank you Lord, that my feelings don't depend on my circumstances, but my joy comes from you. In all things, you are in control and I thank you that even through the most dire of circumstances, your will can be done. Help me to rise up and be a Daniel to my generation and not to allow my circumstances to bring me down. In Jesus name, Amen.
