Anyone But Me!

“O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.” Judges 6:15

For the past nine days of this short series, we've taken a look at getting through the wilderness period that you may go through as you seek the will of God in your life. But what now? What has God given you to do? I would like to spend a few days taking a look at different characters from the bible, seeing how God gave them unimaginably big tasks. These ''great' men of God all came up with different excuses of why they couldn't do what they being asked to do. Of course, looking back, we know the outcomes of these stories. But when we try to put ourselves in the shoes of these bible characters, we can see how they did trust in God.

Gideon was called by God to save Israel. In fact, God told him to go in his might and that he WOULD save Israel. There were no 'ifs' or 'buts' about it. Gideon opened his mouth to talk and out came excuses. He had no political power and even in his own family, he was the least. Gideon went on to ask God twice for a sign, using his fleece. God in His graciousness gave Gideon a sign. Do spend some time to reread the story of Gideon. It's incredible how God did use Gideon to save Israel. The way that it was done was to show that it was God's doing, not Gideons. But Gideon was (eventually) obedient to do what God had called him to do. What a good job that he got over his fears. The Israelites were all to benefit and they lived in peace for forty years.

I live in England and sometimes I get so upset to see the depths that we as a country have fallen to. England used to be the country that spread the gospel to the world but now, it's a politically correct land, where everybody's scared to speak the truth for fear of offending one another. Today as I dropped my daughters to school, a sadness came over me. The times that we live in are like the days mentioned in Revelation. The things that are currently taking place in Europe were mentioned in the book of Daniel. We are living in days where we are seeing biblical prophesies fulfilled. But still, English people are living oblivious to the signs of the times. If they only knew, they would cry out to Jesus. England is starting to separate from the European Union, which according to a report I read yesterday by an evangelist that I truly respect, David Hathaway, England will be a hope to spread the gospel to Europe in these dark days that we're living in. But first England needs a revival. As I drove the school run this morning, I felt so little in the task of evangelising England. But suddenly strength rose within me. I may be only one, but my prayers may join with the prayers of the saints who have gone before me. So I lifted my voice in prayer for my land. Each person that I passed, I lifted up to Christ. God loves them. He can use my single voice in prayer to change a nation. I will not back down although the task of saving England seems so huge. I am not claiming to have some mandate on my life more than the next person, but I do feel a calling to save the lost here in England. What can I do? I am a nobody. I am the least of the least. But yet God can use me and use my might (like He said to Gideon) to perform wonders and to save my land. Like the characters in the bible, my story may have an incredible ending. Yours too!

Are you ready to start walking in the calling that God has on your life. Don't even begin to think about all of the things that you can't do. Think about what God can do and that there is nothing that He can't do! Remember that when the satan fell from his heavenly position, he only took a third of the angels with him. That means that we have two thirds more on our side!

Prayer:
Help me to be strong Lord and to walk with all of my might, trusting in you. Only through you can we do the mighty and marvellous things that you have called us to do. But I need to be a person of action. Help me to do that in You. Thank you for never leaving me. In Jesus name, Amen.
