THE GREAT GARDENER
Before a gardener plants his flowers or vegetables, he prepares the ground by spading it up and removing the unwanted vegetation and whatever else might interfere with the growth of the seedlings. After removing the new seedlings from their pot and planting them, he waters them to settle the soil around their roots; he further nurtures them as necessary to ensure their growth. He will dote over them and protect them from invading insects. When properly cared for the seedlings will grow to maturity and produce beautiful flowers or wholesome vegetables.
So it is with man, God will allow us to lose our earthly treasures, sometimes through divorce, accident, or whatever other means it will take to put us in a position where we have to make a choice to turn to God for help or continue in our downward spiral. God will not put anymore on us than we cannot endure, but there are some who cannot stand the strain of the situation and turn to ways that are not compatible with the plans that God has for those whom He is preparing to serve Him. Some fall by the wayside, while others endure and come to be of service to God and fill the place He has prepared for them.
While making the transition and rebuilding of their life they will be encouraged to conform to the will of God and be planted in a new seedbed previously prepared by God. God will water them with His word as found in the Holy Scriptures and as their roots grow in their new seedbed, they become more confident that they will have a brighter future. Not understanding why they had to go through this process of being replanted they go about life as usual, not fully realizing that they are being changed. This can be an arduous journey and a time to reflect on the past events and what the future might hold.
As the gardener goes to great lengths to prepare his vegetable or flower bed and the planting of the various seeds or plants and waters them to ensure their growth, so does God go to great lengths to prepare those whom He has chosen to serve Him. When the time is right God will make it perfectly clear to those whom He has chosen to serve Him just what it is that He wants them to do. Somewhat bewildered perhaps, the chosen make excuses as to why they are not qualified to step forward and serve God. Until they submit to the calling of God, God will nudge them now and again until they either submit to their calling or run the other way. God will not force anyone to follow Him, but He will force him or her to say yes or no.
To be a willing tool in the hands of God is without a doubt the greatest adventure anyone could embark on and the most rewarding. A humbling experience that can only be compared to the greatest thrill of one’s life, nothing can take its place. It is not a calling that will ensure great prestige or wealth, for many who serve God live a simple life, many times unnoticed by the general public. Inwardly it does promise eternal life, eternal life that cannot be bought at any price, a free gift from God for those who choose to serve Him. This gift is also extended to those who accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
God calls many to serve him, but few there are who answer that calling. To serve God is to deny thyself the riches of the world and depend upon God for every need. He who serves God without expectation shall receive their reward in heaven. Through God’s love, all things are possible and can be achieved through submission to the one who created us, God. When called to serve God prepare thyself for the greatest journey of your live, nothing can compare to knowing that you serve God the creator of the universe and all that therein is. God in His infinite wisdom will bless and keep those who choose to serve Him.
Romans 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:30-31, Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
