I am thanking the Lord for you
   in my telling you how special you are to me.
My words and actions toward
   you should be praise toward my God.

If I am His priest
   then you are His temple.

May I lose my right hand
   if I do not love you as you should be loved,
      for I would rather lose my hand
         and not you or my Lord.

Grace is never fair
   for the one who extends it.
It cost the Son of God His life,
   so should I expect less of myself?
If I am called to love you,
   then I am simply called
      to die a living death, with joy.

Let patience and kindness be with me,
   with mercy.
As He gave to us, may I give to you,
   motivated by the purest Love.

This is my response to your eyes, your hair,
   your skin and your body.
These words come as I think of the voice that comes
   from your very mouth.
I have been moved so by the heart and spirit,
   the drive I see in you.

I am only motivated, compelled even,
   by the one our Lord has made (is making)
      you to be.

It seems a humble thing to say
   this only comes from you being you.
