Sunday 1/8/12 Pastor Michael sermon - Pathway to my promise=Putting first things first Genesis 1:1
========================================================================================
***In the beginning God created heaven and earth.
A good thing about the beginning of the year is that it’s a time for a fresh start and a new beginning. We learned from things that went on in 2011 and it was a trying year.
2012: 12 is a number of order and 2012 is the time to get things back in order. There are 12 disciples, 12 gates in the New Jerusalem, 12 pearls on the priest’s breastplates. Jesus was 12 yrs old when he made his first public appearance in the church. 12 is the number of God taking over. 2102 is the year to get out of debt. 2012 is the year to get healthy. 2012 is the year to cut some toxic relationships and to start other good relationships.
We need to get Biblical Priorities in 2012:
1) God is Number One.
2) Our Assignment--why God put us on the earth. What He wants us to do.
3) Our Family. They are important and are held together by God.
4) Our Career. What job are we to be doing. Don’t use unemployment as an reason to say God doesn’t want you to work. Get a lawnmower and create your job!
To get the promises God has for us, God has to have PRIORITY in our lives! Genesis= In the beginning was God! God is describing our beginning, not his. God has always been, He is omniscient. He knows everything and all that we go through. God knows all hings and all things are by Him. God is omnipresent=He is everyplace. He is here. He is there. He is everywhere!
Verse 26 God said let us make man. He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. God knows EVERYTHING! He knows the end so we don’t need to trip out when we go thru stuff. God knows the end and will work it out for us! There is a reason God lets us go thru stuff. Its so He can process us. This is so we won’t be “confused” about who brought us out of our mess. God brought us out, not ourselves! This is why we are in worship today because God brought us through and brought us out!
God’s name is mentioned in Genesis chapter one, 30 times and it only has 31 verses. The reason the creation came out so good is because God was all up in it’s business. If we want our life to be good and full of God’s promises then we need to have God all up in our business too.
AMEN
