Devotionals
Have you ever thought of your faith as worship to God? We worship in many different ways. Singing, praying, giving and just the way we live our lives are all forms of worship. But what about the faith that we exhibit towards God? Let’s look at the definition of worship and see if faith will be a way we can worship God. In the dictionary worship is defined as: the reverent love and devotion accorded to a deity (in our case, God); the ceremonies, prayers, or other forms by which this love is expressed.
In the Revell Bible Dictionary it is defined as the attitude and acts that are the appropriate responses of human beings to God’s self-revelation. Now if you will let me try to put this in everyday language, we could say that worship is the way that we express our love and devotion to the One True God who deserves it.
Why is this important? For one thing, some people can sing wonderfully; but others, like me, are not exactly solo material. On the other hand, everyone has the same opportunity to pray but the amount of faith that we have directly affects how we pray. How much faith do you have? Could your faith be affecting how you worship God?
Secondly, having great faith is one sure way to thrill the heart of God! In Luke 7 we read that a Roman military official sent someone out to meet Jesus, with the message, “Don’t come any closer to my house for I am unworthy! If you will just speak the word, my servant will be healed.” The official tells Jesus that he, being a military captain, understands that when he tells his soldiers to go that they go! Just as it is for Jesus. Look at Jesus’ own words in Luke 7:9
When Jesus heard him say this, He marveled at him and turned around and said to the crowd
I have not seen such great faith as this in all of Israel.
Do you want to thrill God? Then show some big faith. He has done great and mighty things already and He never changes! Jesus answered the official’s request happily I’m sure! When you start showing greater faith, tell God it is because you believe He is who He says He is! That is worship - when we bow the knee, and reflect on who our God is and then act accordingly. I believe we can still so thrill Jesus that He will turn to the Father and say, “Look at that faith I have not seen that much faith in all of the world in the last 10 years!” Let that be us! People who know who their God is and have the faith to act on it!
Father, we worship you today with our faith! As we learn more about you then we will be able to see how worthy you are to be worshipped with our faith. Faith believes you! When we believe you, we are having the correct response to who you are which is the heart of worship! Expand our views of faith and worship. Let us become people who worship you by believing you for all that you are, and not just our limited view of you! We love you and praise you! Amen

Outstanding article. You hit that nail squarely on the head. This is a very good reminder that faith is worship. Good job.
Very good Jenny. I must admit that I've never actually thought about it specifically, but I suppose because our entire lives are meant to be an act of worship I've just always taken it as part of that worship. But it was good to see it highlighted here. Well done. With love, Deb
