Impatience is one of the most common problems that faces every christian. Since our God is full of great promises, we try to put that which he has promised into a time table. We are a "now" generation, with how fast everything works in the world these days no wonder we expect everything in an instant. We can recieve money from anywhere in the world in a matter of seconds, we can even buy a new car on the internet with a few clicks. So when we pray we often expect God to instantly answer our prayers. There is incredible power in prayer, and the fact is, he can instantly answer a prayer. However, some things we ask require time for God to answer. We are often not ready for the things we pray for. So God takes time and prepares our heart to recieve the answer to certain requests. Remember: The lord's delays are not the lord's denials of our prayers. A lot of times we pray for things that aren't in God's will, and he will often change our hearts and prayers altogether. Garth Brooks was not lying in his song when he said "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers." By the grace of God some of mine were not answered. So we need to chill out and give the lord time to work. Imagine if we instantly recieved everything we pray for, god would no longer be our master, but our servant.

When we have no patience with the Lord we tend to remove His hand from a situation and try to speed things up with our own hands. God will answer prayers if you seek his face, but he will do it on his time, not ours. Time should never be too much for us to swallow. We know he can save our souls, we should also know his will shall be done in due time if we seek him. We need to get on God's watch and stop looking at our own.


According to God's word patience is a fruit of the spirit. One of its many meanings is "slow to anger". Patience is one of God's many great attributes.
Psalm 148:5 reads- " The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love."

2 Pe. 3:9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

If we seek to be like the lord, patience is one of the fruits we should seek.

The importance of patience can be found throughout the bible-

Galatians 5:22- But the fruit of the Spirit is
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness...

Heb 6:12- We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

Romans 5:3-4 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
