Once fertile fields, for long disgraced,
Abandoned, weed-bound thorny waste;
A kingdom once bloomed in this place—
Peculiar people, chosen race—
Long lost and gone without a trace?

Way back this judgement was decreed—
Though chosen special land indeed
Should Israel not give God heed
He’d scatter them like wind-blown seed
To far off lands on crumbs to feed.

For years with aching hearts forlorn
While wandering would Jacob mourn
The land where Patriarchs were born
(A memory the Gentiles scorn)—
Next year perhaps he might return!!

God brings them back for His Name’s sake
His covenant He cannot break
Will not His chosen ones forsake—
Though men will fail, the Word He spake
Will come to pass—Oh land Awake!!
