Gospel
Matthew 27:42"...let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him."
The saints are loved by God because they allow him to use their bodies to satisfy his heart. It is hardest when what satisfies God dissatisfies the flesh. However, like when Jesus Christ prayed the prayer of "surrender"-ation to God,
"...however, not mine will, but yours be done"
he made it "easy" for God to extend his purpose. Whenever we allow our flesh to get its desires disregarding that of God's heart, we draw back his purpose; though he'll still have a way of advancing his will.
So when he was then put up on the Cross of grace, some believers of the Jewish law, Jews of the greatest authority passed by. At this stage, Jesus' body was at its worst state of shame; had he loved his body more than God's heart, he would have gone down straight away and tried to show those men and women that 'he was powerful'.
Yet this was not so; as he always recited, 'his power' was not as a result of being him alone, but also based on his relationship with Father who is in heaven, who owns all powers and hath 'given to his beloved son' as a price for his faithfulness. Hence Jesus could have been drawn to miscalculate and fall from Glory.
I love this! Look:
In the fleshly realm
He would have gone down from the Cross of Shame, and proved to those who were chanting accusations and deriding him...
Yet In the spiritual realm
...the cross was the Cross of Glory, for he was attaining it by staying up there.Going down from the cross before the appointed time would have been counted as Falling from Glory and Grace.
Friends, you may be piked on torture stakes of life; everyone looking saying all sorts of shameful words; yet if you stick to the grace brought about by going through that shame With Christ, you will soon realise the Glory thats due to you.
Jesus is faithful, and as my topic outlines; do not worry why the time up there on the shameful cross is a bit longer than 'bearable'; understand that those passer-bys are being afforded a few 'hours-of-grace' where some will repent and foresee the purpose of God. Hence your steadfastness will result in some being saved. Like the centurion who realised that Christ was Christ, and bowed; some will bow when they realise that your 'torture-stake' is a 'Glory-Pole' for God's intents. in Jesus Christ's name. Haleluya!..say Amen if you receive it :)!
