How Can You Love Me?

I’ve been running- running away from the One who loves me-
Didn’t think I was deserving after what I’ve done-
Couldn’t even look at my own face in the mirror- all I could do was run.
How could You possibly love me? Don’t You see the stains? There’s nothing good in me- just heartache and pain.
I’ve failed. I’m broken and there’s so much shame.
No words can be spoken to restore my name.
How could You love me? Why would You even try?
Why won’t You leave me and allow me to die.

But I still hear You say:

Come on back to Your 1st Love. I’ve already forgiven.
Come back to Me and enjoy a better way of living.
Run into My arms. Feel My embrace. Let Me wipe the tears off your face.
I can never not love you. I gave everything for you.
My love covers your sin. It’s deeper- stronger than your pain- more intense than your shame-
I know what you’ve gone through- I feel you-
If you come to Me I promise I can heal you.

How can You love me?

How could You love me? (I do)
How can You forgive me? (I have)
How can I be what You’ve called me? (You will)
How can You . . .? (Shhhh . . . I love you still)

I don’t know your story- what you’ve been through
But there is nothing that you could do to make Him stop loving you.
You may have spent your day’s crying-
May have even thought about dying
But if you never believe anything else believe that God loves you and gave His Son for you. He sees what you can’t see. He sees you whole- complete- healed and freed from your past sins, hurts and failures. He sees you covered in the blood of Jesus- redeemed and righteous. Don’t you dare give up on you. Hold on. Don’t run from Him. Run to Him. Collapse into His arms. Lay your head on His shoulder. Release your tears. Let Him hold you. In your weakness, let Him be your strength. One word- One touch from God can change you forever. He loves you. He just does.
