Christian Living
We're born innocent, yes this is true. Like Adam and Eve before the apple. But we do not remain so for long. Just as they ate the fruit. We become aware of the knowledge of good... and evil. We become aware of pain and sadness, and anger. That is our destiny as humans, every human will face this challenge.
I believe it is the source of our great test, the beginning of our many tests and trials through our lives. We are always learning, isn't this true? Right and wrong. How to identify them, how to learn to control ourselves. How to choose good. And we are tempted constantly. Tempted by so many dark forces in this world.
There are so many forces swaying us in this world, they are innumerable. No man could count them. Television accustoms our minds to violence, advertisements place banners in our minds of logos and companies, would God want this knowledge jammed into our minds? I don't believe so. Video games that promote dark ideas and twisted theologies of multiple Gods. It may seem harmless on the surface, yes, but is there something subliminal going on here? Gluttony with the fast food industry? Evolution taught as fact in schools? Could this be called indoctrination? Perhaps I go too far, but you must see a bit of a truth in some of these examples.
Yet still as we journey through our lives, and our younger years, a light force seems to touch us and guide us in our dark times, and lead us toward beauty, morality, and the understanding of justice. A force touches us from time to time that makes us realize that there is good in the world. A vast amount of love by a being that created us, a being I call God.
As the years go on we may stray further and further from the road, but never are we alone. Even in our most difficult hardships and trials there is a God watching over us, keeping us from crossing over the edge. Holding us as we cry. Because he loves us, God is love. Through these trials, though they are hard and we may scorn his name because of them, they are gifts, gifts of knowledge so that we may better know the difference between good and evil, and choose good.
Through choosing good, and believing in Jesus Christ we are prepared for our time on the New Earth spoken of in Revelations.
These trails I speak of are no small matter. They may be terrifying and long and hard, but we are stubborn human beings, and do need hardship to grow in God. Do not fret, shoulder the burden, take up your cross, so that you may walk with Christ in the city of New Jerusalem.
