Poetry
Its sickening to realize who You are.
To carve open your mirror and dig into your chest
Passed the bullshit and layers of lies
Until You see yourself,
Small and untouched like a trophy on a shelf in some closet,
Cherished but forgotten.
I reached in and grabbed the small box that was my heart and held it like it was made of glass.
Its edges were scratched, but what it contained remained unharmed.
I gently opened it, unsure of what I'd find.
Shining like some ancient jewel, sat my love, tiny but alive.
I lifted it awkwardly like a father holding his son for the first time.
It was beautiful, but I had no idea what to do with it.
So, for years I kept it locked in myself and hidden.
Then You found me.
You looked inside me.
You carved open my chest and dug past the human parts of me, un-disgusted, finally taking the box out.
I was getting upset, but then You continued.
I watched You tear open your own chest and pull out an unlocked and exposed beating heart.
You set it where my tiny box had been and gave a weak smile.
I fell to the ground with life.
