In the Valleys of Life
Keeping Our Focus

God will carry us through the valleys of life that come to destroy us. These experiences come to take us away from God. We lose focus of who God is and why we love Him. It is God that saves us from all of the uncleanness of life. We can come out of the valley. The dryness of life can be watered again and we can prosper in the things of God. God will keep us cleansed from the things that can defile us. We can live for God and everything around us is dead. People all around us is dying, drying up in their sin. They live as sluggards, wise in their own mind and can give you hundreds of reasons why you are the crazy one. They trust in their own hearts, but God loves them too and we that are saved have a job to do. We must live in victory, we must present Jesus to the lost and we must go down in the valley and gain those lost for Christ. When we think about it, it could have been us that was still lost in sin. We can compromise in more ways than we think. To them that know to do good the Word of God says; and do it not, it is sin. God does not say partake in the sin but we have a responsibility to present Christ at every opportunity that presents itself. When we don’t take the opportunity we need to question whether or not we trust God. Jesus went in some rough places in the valley, but He went with a full trust in His Father that He would come out again. Our day is not done until we finish the work God sent us to the earth to do. We cannot leave the earth for Heaven until our work is finished just like Jesus did.

Romans 1:32 who knowing the judgment of god, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but have pleasure in them that do them. Christians are most afraid that if they go in the valley, they might get caught us in the hype because they are not as strong as they should be. Or maybe they don’t strive because they don’t know how they will fare in the valley or if they will be shamed. They are afraid of the valley rather or not their own sin will be revealed. We need to be delivered to the place where we can keep our focus even in the valley of life. In the valley even death is enminent. God uses us as his conduits in the earth. We are his passageway to speak to the hearts of men. We have to go to the saved and unsaved and present the Gospel and keep our focus in the process.

In the valley we must be conscience of our surroundings and keep a sense of approval or disapproval of what is there. We have to follow the standard God set forth in His Word. God calls us to keep our moral standard we have learned even in the dry places and rocky edges of life. We are to be convicted by our own conscience and not omit God. In the valleys of life we must keep a repentant heart. A valley is an elongated depression of the earth’s surface. Sometimes things get rough, we are drained of our hope. A valley is a low point or condition not conducive to our flesh. The law was given God’s people by Moses but grace and truth came by way of Jesus Christ. We will walk through some rough times but we cannot give up or give in to the bumps in the highway of holiness. Those bumps in the road are put there to make us have a wreck in our salvation. These wrecks cause problems in our relationship with God if we are not aware of them. We have to keep our focus and know that no matter what comes or go God is still yet in control. He can change our circumstances whenever He so pleases.

Jesus came in the earth as the savior of the world and faced death even as a baby. John 9:22 those words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews, for the Jews had agreed already that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put to death out the synagogue. They did not want Jesus to come and deliver man. They were more willing to keep the people under their rule. The blind man that was healed by Jesus said give God the praise even when the people said Jesus was a sinner. The blind man kept his focus. This was the first time he saw anything and they could not change his mind. He declared that if Jesus was a sinner or not; he don’t know but one thing he knew was that whereas he was blind, now he could see. Some of us need to know that we can come out of the valley if we trust God and never doubt again. Christian Brothers, Christian Sisters and sinners alike we have to be able to see Christ to come to Him. He has presented Himself to us over and over again. By see we mean we understand and believe although we don’t see Him with the naked eye standing before us. We should not be so confident in our own awareness of who it is that delivered us because we see a man but our faith is in what we believe and don’t see. The blind man didn’t know who it was that touched him because he could not see the man. He just believed in his healing when he was touched. We have to keep our focus that the light is in us not be overtaken by the darkness of the valley. Our soul maybe required this night, keep our focus even through our valley experiences.

Jesus didn’t have all of the things he left in heaven to take on flesh and live in this earth, but he kept his focus as to what he was here for. When Jesus took on flesh, he left his heavenly home to live in the earth as a man. Once God had been glorified in the earth, Jesus was given his glory back also that He had in Heaven. We see as He prayed an intercessory prayer in St. John 17, the Heaven had to come back together again as one before Jesus once again gave man back the Spirit once breathe in him in the earth. We must confess Jesus in and out of battle; when things are good or bad. How do we act when we are bombarded with situations that don’t feel good to us? We are in the valley of life, but keep our focus on God. This confidence a man have in God will take them through whatever they face in this world. We are to confess our faults that they do not prevail over us. In prosperity the destroyer shall come upon us.
