“Under the Anointing”

I would like to share a testimony with you of another lesson learned in obeying the Holy Spirit where the anointing is concerned. I hope its an encouragement to your faith in our Father God who loves to pour out His goodness on His serving children. Be blessed in Jesus name.
------------------------------------------

On this particular Sunday, I had been invited to come and minister in music at a small Baptist Church. I was experiencing some cold symptoms and I didn’t feel very good. I really wanted to stay home but I immediately said out loud, ‘No, I’m going on and I believe God will take care of me.’ Besides, I had already given my word that I would come.

That afternoon, I spent more time in prayer, asking Holy Spirit what He wanted me to do specifically? Asking Him to move upon the hearts of the people to receive what He wanted to do. At one point, I said, “Lord, if you’re not going to this church, I’m not going either because I don‘t want to be anywhere that you‘re not. But if you’re going, then I’m going too.”

As I got still before the Lord, He told me to start off introducing some praise and worship music. I mean, this was a Baptist church that I had been to before and there was very little moving of the Spirit happening there. I said, “Lord, are you sure about this?” Directly, He answered, “I’m sure.” “Okay. I’ll do what you want.” I didn’t know how this new music was going to go over but I’d do as Holy Spirit said and let the results rest with Him. Still feeling physically good, my husband and I went on to the church.

The pastor read from Psalm 150 before I was called to minister. Of course, the 150th Psalm is all about praising the Lord in the song and dance and with all kinds of instruments. His reading this particular Psalm confirmed to me what Holy Spirit had told me earlier at home.

At the church and in practice before the service started, I began feeling much better. In fact, I felt wonderful. How do I explain that? I knew it was because of the anointing that was on me. At home, my voice had given out on me because the cold affected my throat, but when I sang at the church, my voice was strong and clear. It never gave out on me once. Even when I had to hold some high notes. It was the anointing coupled with my faith and obedience to do what Holy Spirit had told me to do.

Long story made short, the singing of praise songs went over fairly well as I got people to join in with me. Most of the people were willing to try and try, they did. I witnessed Holy Spirit set some people free through praise. To see a new light in their eyes was such a blessing as some showed that they truly wanted to praise the Lord.

Once I got back home and was out from under the anointing, I began feeling awful again. By now, I was running a fever and was having chills. All I wanted to do was go to bed. I had been obedient to do as Holy Spirit had said and now I needed to receive a healing touch. I declared and claimed my healing in Jesus name then went to bed. The next morning, I woke up with no cold symptoms at all! Thank you, Jesus!

COMMENT:
Our faith to believe God and our obedience to do His will brings the anointing. I remember hearing Kenneth Copeland tell about being somewhere ministering and one of his legs was inflamed and painful. He said, as long as he was under the anointing, he felt no pain but once he was out from under the anointing, the pain returned in his leg. Because of his faith and obedience, in the wee hours of the morning, he said, God healed his leg.

These things are satan’s attacks to get you to do the opposite of what Holy Spirit has told you to do. If Holy Spirit says go South, the devil will come along to deceive and have you going North if you’re not discerning enough to catch the deception. This would be direct disobedience to the will of God and thus, there would be no anointing for service. Because of this, those people Holy Spirit wanted to touch, heal and set free would remain sick and in bondage. Its tough sometimes to be obedient to Holy Spirit, especially when your flesh is telling you to do the opposite due to some physical ache or pain, or some other situation.

God designed our spirit-man to be in control so we could tell our flesh to hush-up, we’re going. It’s not to be the other way around. If we, as the real person, listens and does what our flesh wants, then its in control and we miss the anointing. We miss out on the glory. We miss out on being blessed ourselves and we miss seeing how other’s are blessed by the Anointing Himself showing up to do what He does best. I, for one, sure don’t want to miss out on experiencing this at any time or any place. How about you? We all have stories to tell.
