When I googled "defunding Planned Parenthood" this quote came up from a blogger on Politico.com "Everyone Knows that defunding planned parenthood will result in MORE abortions and MORE unplanned pregnancies."

I am trying to locate the blogger so that I can respond directly, but we all need to be ready with answers for fodder like this.

The poor writer loses at the outset when he starts with "Everyone knows..." has he/she spoken with everyone?

Planned Parenthood does not STOP people from having unplanned pregnancies - it stops the pregnancy! Defunding it will not cause unplanned pregnancies.. sex causes pregnancy! Defunding it will not result in MORE abortions, but in hopefully fewer abortions!

Look the truth is, people that want abortions will get them no matter what. And that is what we can pray about, coming up with viable alternatives... that should be the truest pro-CHOICE mantra for those who are pregnant and not wanting to raise a child. Adoption comes to mind....

For me, the main issues are: don't pay for abortions with Federal or State monies, and particularly not MY MONEY! Keep your mits off my moolah!

If we quit making accessing abortion so easy, i.e. women using it as their primary birth control method, perhaps at last people will begin to own their actions. If you don't want to get pregnant, don't have unprotected sex. Abstinence is a viable alternative, and there are many others.

We are a nation of unaccountability: fiscally, morally, or on any other level. Our own government robs one financial coffer to fatten another, does not pay back borrowed money, does not collect on money loaned to other countries .. The list goes on and on.

But, it is time to stop passing the buck - on a federal level and on the individual level. What if we each were responsible for our own actions? What if we had to pay the bill for our folly? I would bet we would make more responsible choices if there was no one to bail us out every time.
