Devotionals
I have been thinking a lot about the importance of a fresh testimony for Christ. Yes, I am so grateful that I was allowed to be born into a home where I was told of the love of Jesus. I am also so deeply thankful to Jesus for His death on the cross for me, and for His Spirit that He sent into my life when I made that decision to follow Him, but I am thrilled with the many times He has touched my life and brought me through an illness, when He has provided opportunities to witness to others, when He has answered my prayers, when He has convicted me of my sins, when He led me to apologize to someone and flooded my heart with joy, when He has allowed me opportunity to share with others, and made the provisions so that it was financially possible. And that is just SOME of the icing on the cake.
I think that a testimony meeting is either exciting, or sometimes, a little stale.
There can be excitement and challenge for other Christians, when there are up-to-date testimonies of what God is doing in a life, and specific answered prayers, but when people testify of what happened 30 or 40 years ago in their life, over and over, one cannot help but wonder, “Is salvation where the road ends?” “What is the Holy Spirit doing in our lives now?”
A story is told of a shopkeeper who opened a new store right beside one that carried the same merchandise. The old shop keeper put up a sign, “Established 50 Years-Proven Merchandise.” The new shop keeper quickly hung a sign which stated, “Established Yesterday, No Old Stock.”
It is wonderful if we were established in Christ 50 years ago, but are we allowing Him to guide us now?
I know that life goes on and I am convicted that I often don’t tell of the amazing things God is doing every day, even if the “amazing thing,” is convicting me of some place I have let down, or simply renewing a portion of His Word in my mind, and perhaps showing me a different, deeper meaning than I have ever seen before. These “little things” may be just what someone else needs to hear, because it may meet them right where they are and cause them to be thankful also. Let’s keep a fresh testimony.”Fresh Stock” will strengthen us and also those that see firsthand, that God is at work. God is not finished with me yet.
Psalm 12:10 I shall be anointed with fresh oil
There are so many touches of God
That so often we do not share.
If we do not feel God’s special touch,
We must fill our life with prayer
Our God is always more than ready
To supply all of the things we need.
How can we tell the touch of His hand
If we never bother to spread His seed?
God is always waiting and watching.
He listens whenever we call.
Let’s give Him the honor and praises due.
So willingly He gave us His all.
Psalms 26:7 That I may publish with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell all thy wondrous works.
Joshua 1:3Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children and their children another generation.
Mark l9: b Go home to thy friends, and tell them what great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
The Apostle Paul’s writings are full of praises for all that God did for him, protecting his life, providing for all of his needs, giving him more opportunities to tell of Christ, and much, much more.
