Every day is pretty much the same for me; I get up, and teach the kids, do the laundry, dishes, make meals and all the other things that go into the running of our home. Nothing special, not very glamorous, but it is my life and most of the time I am pretty content with it. I like to think that I am an average wife and mother, with maybe a few unique quirks.
Most of the women I know are similar. We simply want to live our lives as good Christians, spend time with the ones we love, raise our children well, have a clean home and maybe lose a few pounds. Just ordinary, not extraordinary. But I have news for you, God wants us to be more. He can use each and every one of us, no matter who we are, where we have been, or what obstacles may stand in our way.
I don’t even fully understand the how’s and whys, but I don’t need to, because His word tells me, I won’t fully understand. This is where I cling to my faith and trust His word.
No matter what point a person may be in life, encouraged, discouraged, happy, moody, tired, energetic, rocking babies or using a walker, he can choose to use. Whether a housewife or CEO, a senior citizen or a child, physically challenged or a world class athlete, God has a plan.
Look at the Bible to see those that have been used by God. They weren't really the type of people that stood out in any way. Just people living their everyday lives.
Rahab, in the book of Joshua. What made Rahab so special? On her ordinary day, she made an extraordinary choice. She went against the King of Jericho's orders and stood with God, and because of that she saved her family.
For such a time as this.
Jochebed, in the book of Exodus. What made Jochebed so special? On her ordinary day, she made an extraordinary choice. She went against the king's commandment, stood with God, and saved her child, Moses
For such a time as this.
Mary, in the Gospels. What made Mary so special? An ordinary girl, chosen for an extraordinary thing. To be the mother of Jesus Christ.
For such a time as this.
The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the moment God picks you to stand for Him. It might be that moment when you pray with a stranger or simply step out of your comfort zone to speak up the truth with others. It could be a phone call in the middle of the night from a hurting loved one or helping a stranger in need. Or something as simple as doing the right thing when the world says different. You may not be a Esther, Rahab, Jochebed or Mary, but you were created for such a time as this.
Esther 4:14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this? [New King James version]
