The Body of Christ
(I Corinthians 12:18)

I was sitting in the church on Sunday morning,
when the preacher preached, this solemn warning

There seems to be some things I see,
which is causing this church to divide.

I hope you’ll pray, about what I’m to say,
for you alone will have to finally decide

There are those of you with a different point of view,on how the church service should be run

Instead of serving, you’re just observing,
and the first to rattle off with your tongue

I’m sure it is true, what I’ve heard about you
being filled with jealousy and pride

Now this will not do, it should be plain to you,
It was for this, our Lord and Savior died.

We are called THE CHURCH the body of life,
to love each other not with anger and strife

What if the Foot said, “I’m not the hand,
you hold everything, while I have to stand”

The Ear would cry, “what about me?
I’m not the eye and I can not see,
I have to listen to what’s told to me!”

And the Nose would say, if it had a mouth to talk,
I’m not the feet so I can not walk…
and I’m not the ear of sweet melodies to hear.

Why… even the eye can see all day,
and the hands upon instruments of music can play.

But me… I’m just an old nose,
whiffing and sniffing everywhere I go.
That’s all I do throughout the day;
I wish I were different, that’s what I say.”

Soon the whole body was fighting to be king,
wanting recognition for every little thing

Convetness and envy rumored their lies.
Then the whole body began to die

“Here now” the preacher shouted that day.
“Fighting and bickering is not the way.

Put aside this foolish pride,
and learn to love each other.

There’s work to do, God’s counting on you,
let’s serve as sisters and brothers.

Now come to the alter and find your place.
Cry out to the Lord for His forgiving grace.”

The whole church repented of its sinful shame,
and God healed the body of its misery and pain.

This ends the story of a church that grew,
but maybe you’re in a church, that’s suffering too!

Just tell them to do the very same…
God will heal them in the power of His Name.
