Someone may ask,
Why engage in a task?
That pays little or nothing
What gains does it bring?

Why spend precious time?
Making up riddles and rhymes
But I reply simply and say:
Pay attention;Poetry pays!

I've found in it sweet mystery
It's magic of grace and beauty
Can refresh the weary heart
Like streams in the desert.

Poetry lofty and lovely
For the journey, a companion truly
And more with words pure and holy
Comforts the heart so lonely.

Words precious and powerful
From hearts wise and thoughtful
Hearts full of light and love
With messages from above.

Refreshing and reviving
Soothing the heart aching;
Sharing our feelings
Another reads and finds healing.

Poetry pays
In its own wonderful way
The joy of blessing someone
Oh, can be such fun!
