THE REALIZATION
OF
A DREAM

"You O king are the king of kings, to whom the God of the heaven has given the kingdom, the power, the strength , and the glory; and wherever the sons of men dwell, or the beasts of the field, or the birds of the sky, He has given them into your hand and has caused you to rule over them all. You are the head of gold".(Daniel 2:37, 38)

This message from God is sent to tell Nebuchadnezzar that the kingdom was not his to do with as he willed. It is a kingdom he failed to understand that was on loan to him from God. The time has come for the king to begin his first lesson in God’s school of humility. The message is that his kingdom is on a downward spiral and will be succeeded by inferior kingdoms.

To understand the kingdoms think of one image with the head of gold and all others after him. .All of them will be destroyed by the rock cut out of the mountain. The image represents all the kingdoms of the world. Revelation 11:15, serves as a perfect commentary “The kingdom’s of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever”

This message to Nebuchadnezzar is not a good one but it helped to restore his composure. Although he exalted Daniel and his friends to higher positions in the kingdom, from the following chapters we find that Nebuchadnezzar has much more to learn.

The lesson is that we who are faithful belong to this eternal kingdom. Our purpose is to declare the message of this eternal kingdom to those bound by this worldly kingdom that Christ desires to reign in them
