Psalm 119.62
Praise Him at all times
“At midnight I shall rise to give thanks to You because of Your righteous ordinances” [Psalm 119.62 NASB]
God, as David has reminded us, never slumbers or sleeps. There are times in some of our lives when we find it really difficult to sleep. However, David, as a man of self-control and discipline had trained himself to think on and praise God regardless of the time or how he felt. This is a good lifestyle to emulate.
Why did David act this way? His motivating factor was God’s word of justice. Why did David place such a stress on justice? He had been, even from a youth and also as the king in waiting, a man who knew every possible shade of meaning of the words afflicted and oppressed, both in theory and in practice.
It was there and then that David tested and proved the word of God, to be like the Lord Himself, faithful and true. Have we also proved God to be fully dependable through times of uncertainty, confusion and great darkness?
It is at times like these that we are better equipped and enabled to minister more effectively to those in need and then to praise God for His faithfulness regardless of the time or the season in which we are living. [David McArdle]
