Holidays
I look around and see people….good people loving God, living for God. And I am amazed…again at His goodness. I see Jesus in them. In their eyes, in their countenance and for a time; I can forget all the ugliness in the world….all the sin that so easily besets us.
I attended the funeral of a beautiful soul today. The sweetness of fellowship, even in the death of one of our own sister’s is beyond expression. Knowing that another dear soul has entered into God’s presence gives me a renewed hope. It’s a celebration in knowing Jesus and believing that He died for my sins and rose again. And because of what He did, I will also rise again and forever be with Him.
I love Christ’s Church and what it represents. I love the like-mindedness of a body of believer’s praising and loving God. There should never be any strife in the Church of Jesus Christ. It’s just not the place for it. It’s the place of healing and forgiveness…and God’s love. God made us in His own image. The Bible says God IS love. If He is love and we were made in His image, shouldn’t we also be loving and caring toward each other? If we are saved by the blood of Jesus, we will all be in heaven one day, together….if we harbor ill feelings and un-forgiveness, I am not sure that we will ever see heaven. Be thankful for your brothers and sisters in Christ. Forgive them…no matter what. I am reminded of an old song: I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God….sing it with me;
I'm so glad I'm a part of the Family of God,
I've been washed in the fountain, cleansed by His Blood!
Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod,
For I'm part of the family,
The Family of God!
Tonight I am thankful for everything God has done for me and given me but more than all this…temporal stuff; I am so very thankful for Jesus. Just knowing I will spend eternity with Jesus makes my heart overflow with gratitude. I pray each and every person reading this will have that same gratitude and love for God in their hearts. And if you really stop and count your blessings, soon your cup will overflow. Happy Thanksgiving….
