Changed

Metamorphoo is a Greek word that means to change, to transform, or to transfigure (change in outward form). This word is used four times in the New Testament. In Matthew 17:2 and Mark 9:2 Jesus was transfigured in the sight of Peter, James, and John. He was truly transfigured. His clothes were as white as snow and his face was as bright as the sun. And there was heard the voice of God, “This is my beloved Son; hear him.”

The next two places where “metamorphoo” is found are Romans 12:2 and II Corinthians 3:18. In Romans 12:2 the English words, “be ye transformed” are used for “metamorphoo". In this verse we are advised not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Colossians 3:16 tells us to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly. God’s word will speak to us and guide us at all times. Proverbs 6:22 “When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.”

In II Corinthians 3:18 “metamorphoo” is translated “are changed". This verse tells us that as we look to the Lord by faith we are changed from glory to glory by his Spirit. We have a living faith. Romans 1:16, 17 say that the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel of Christ and that we progress from one level of faith to another by the power of God.

Our God is a consuming fire (Deuteronomy 4:24). We are changed when we read His word and worship Him. Proverbs 4:18, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
