She is like a bud
Everyone sees she is budding
Then from the bud comes the petals
Soon the petals are totally out
Oh! So beautiful; irresistible
“Must have her” say the men
But she can only have one man
Dear Lord, help her

She is like the African apple
When it is still green
Eyes are watching and waiting
Soon it is ripe and light-brown
Oh! So beautiful; irresistible
Some can hardly wait for it to fall
Some wait for it to fall
But there is a rush to pick it up
“Must have her” say the men
But she can only have one man
Dear Lord, help her

She is either for keeps or for use
For keeps or use determined by her
Deep down she wants to be for keeps
Deceived and enticed she becomes for use
If only she can overcome, she will be for keeps
“Must have her” say the men
But she can only have one man
Dear Lord, help her

Here the men come
Sometimes in turns
Sometimes like a flood
She must take a decision
For each man wants to be the one
Can she hold on to her maker
Let Him help her make the right choice
For she can only have one man
