Lord, if You had been here
My friend would not have died.
If You had only touched her,
She would still be alive.
And I can’t pretend to understand
Your Holy, perfect will
But, because of Your great love,
Lord, I will trust You still.

Father, if You had been here
There would be no sickness or pain
For You, in Your mighty power,
Can heal the weak and lame.
And why You choose to tarry,
Might not be for me to know
But, because of Your great love,
Where You lead me, I will go.

Master, in this world of ours
Sin has corrupted all we see.
Should we trust in human wisdom,
Which can never set us free?
Or do we fully lean on You,
Even though we don’t understand,
Knowing You do all for love,
And hold us in Your hand.

Savior, You have been there,
In every trial and tear
And through the voice of sorrow
Your words we learn to hear.
You promise You will lead us,
Our emptiness to fill,
And, because of Your great mercy,
Lord, I will trust You still.
