Encouragement
“You will show me the path that leads to life, your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever.” Psalms 16:11
Things are not always what they seem. What we actually perceive on the surface and what really lies beneath is a mystery at times. A mirage of sorts. Sometimes people come across as hard and unrelenting but when we get to know them, we discover that in fact their hearts are really soft. The outer hard layer is just a covering for the soft vulnerable core inside.
I am reminded of a true story where a welder had carefully preserved a metal sheet over the years which he had used daily in the process of his welding work. This sheet had taken on a strange design with the daily molten metal having fallen on it. His friend playfully decided to display this metal sheet at an art exhibition held in the town. To everyone’s amazement, this metal piece walked away with the first prize.
The poor welder was baffled when the media had a field day trying to analyze the reasons for his choice of design, his thoughts and imaginations. They wrote lengthy articles, had discussions and interviews to cash in on the moment. When in reality, he had not thought of anything; the sheet was just a result of his industrial work.
Hypocrisy has been a popular trend since ancient times. There is not much difference between the hypocrisy practiced by the Pharisees in Jesus’ time and the present world. Jesus aptly called them ‘Whitewashed tombs.’ Because on the outside they were clean and shining but inside their hearts were filled with resentful thoughts.
I have seen people over the years, invest their time and energy trying to pull others down, criticize, slander and spread unwarranted rumors.
In all honesty, such people exhaust me. I sincerely think that they should rather take an introspection of their own selves and discover their faults and failings instead of labeling others.
Mostly, the ones who slander about others are the ones who have the greatest anomalies.
They are the modern day Pharisees who pretend to be sitting on the royal throne of justice to judge others. They would happily vouch to confess the sins of others which they erroneously feel they have deduced with their clever thinking instead of being reproachful for their own sins. They forget that one day they will be judged for the very same actions.
Let us not live in a world of illusions but rather in harmony with others.
Let us walk in the footsteps of our Lord because that is the path that leads to everlasting life.

I enjoyed reading the story and think that it makes a very good point concerning hypocrisy.
