---

we join the world waiting
waiting to die
trading the dark of the body
for the dark of this world
to wait

as we live, we die
with a sense of urgency
awaiting the end
dreading the grave
and what stands beyond

learning to...

love without feeling
hurt without pain
take without giving
an ounce of us
a smile or a tear

and we live with a vengeance
feeding crap to our souls
trading joy for a dime
taming our minds
and our void

the void that He gave
a void that we fill
with drugs
and sex
and work

we wait
we wait in our lines
a toe tapping impatience
in our crowds
a smothering crush

with our void that soon empties
out on the ground
all that had filled it
but stays in our soul
waiting for Him

not knowing
but needing to fill it
the soul itching void
that cries for the cross and
His blood

finally reaching to grasp
from the ground, where we kneel
the cross which now
dusts off our knees
and welcomes us home

His arms and scarred hands
that will hold
gently reaching to fill the void
which has opened it's mouth
for His fish, and bread

and forgiveness

and life

as we die, we live
with a sense of urgency
awaiting the end
seeking the grave
and what stands beyond

with a sense of urgency
we wait
