Genesis 3:6-13, And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her: and he did eat.
7-And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8-And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9-And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where are you?
10-And he said, I heard your voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11-And He said, Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree whereof I commanded you that you should not eat?
12-And the man said, The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13-And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that you have done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.”

So, the first couple has eaten of the forbidden fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The one tree that God told them not to eat of or they would “surely die.” Now they’ve hidden themselves from God because they’re afraid. Lets get a little closer and see if we can hear the first couple’s conversation.

ADAM (complains, adjusting the apron around him)---“This is all your fault you know.”

EVE (responds defensively)---“My fault? Look who’s talking, Mr. Mighty Ruler. It’s your fault for just standing there like you had lockjaw while that evil old serpent tricked me!”

ADAM (retaliates, voice rising)--- “Why didn’t you tell him to take a hike? You had the same authority I did but no, you had to stand there all goo-goo eyed, hanging onto every greasy word that came out of his mouth!”

EVE (puts hands on hips, narrows eyes at husband and speaks in icy, disgusted tones)--- “Listen here, you winnie-wimp, you don’t have any room to talk. God said, you’re to be my protector. So why didn’t you protect me instead of folding up like an umbrella? Some man you turned out to be.” (She turns her back to him now).

ADAM (retorts hotly)--- “Oh yeah? Well, some wife you turned out to be too! God said, you’re suppose to be a submissive wife to me.”

EVE (turns back around to squarely face husband and his chilly words)--- “Adam, I’ve got a news flash for you so listen up real good. You and me? We’re the pattern for generations upon generations of people who’ll populate this whole world. This is what God told us, remember? That means, all the men will be patterned after you, and all the women will be patterned after---”
ADAM (sarcastically)--- “Oh brother! Are the men ever in trouble when they wind up with a wife like you.”

EVE (reacts angrily)--- “Oh yeah? Well, listen to this little nugget you can carry with you. I’ve been a perfect wife to you, Adam. You’ve been a perfect husband to me also until you blew it...”

ADAM (just as angry)--- “Until I blew it? Listen, sweetheart, you were always the one wanting to hang around that tree, not me. Of course, we had to take care of it but that didn’t mean we had to pitch a tent under it and camp out!” (paces back and forth in front of wife).

EVE (arms folded across chest, she watches husband in stone cold silence)--- “Better be careful sweetie that you don’t pace too hard and too fast lest you lose your little lion cloth. We wouldn’t want that to happen now would we?” (patronizing, she bats eyes at him).

ADAM (stops pacing and steps closer to wife)--- “Not one more word out of you, Eve. Do you hear me? Not one more word.”

EVE (eyes flash angry daggers at husband)--- “So now, you’re telling me to shut-up. I will not shut-up, Adam. Maybe its you who needs to shut-up.”

ADAM--- “I will not shut-up either!” (angrily, they face each other like two snapping turtles).

EVE--- “Well, that makes two of us then!”

ADAM--- “Yeah!”

EVE (stretches to full height and takes a deep breath)--- “The rest of the nugget I was going to give you earlier, Adam is this. Like I said, I was a perfect and submissive wife to you. I respected you, and I honored you in every way. But I find that I can’t do that anymore.”

ADAM (arrogantly)--- “And just why not?”

EVE (a touch of sadness in her voice), “Its simple really. For every woman who will be born into the world, you are the pattern for the husband she will marry. These women will have a hard time being submissive to their husbands, and do you know why, Adam?”

ADAM (stubbornly)--- “No, but I suppose you’re going to tell me anyway.”

EVE--- “These women will have a hard time being submissive to husbands they can’t respect..”

The first couple falls silent. Communication is broken as they look helplessly at the other one who has now become little more than a stranger. And so husbands and wives still struggle today to bridge the gap of broken communication. Trying to learn again how to have true intimacy with God and with each other. Love, forgiveness, acceptance and being responsible for your own wrong actions are bridge builders to help connect you once again to fellowship and intimacy.

Jesus Christ is the connector for He said, “If two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst...” There are no real relationships except you allow Jesus to be there in the midst of it. His anointing will promote healing for wounds and bruises both parties incurred in the process of trying and failing to connect in intimacy. We’re out of character when we blame others for wrongs that we do ourselves. But we are IN Character---God’s character when we choose to bless the other person instead. So, let us be a blessing and give out blessings to all those we’re in relationship with, moving closer and closer into intimate fellowship with them, as we move closer to God, our Father in intimacy.

Of course, this little drama is a little humorous but yet, there is deep truth and exposure of the wrongs we perpretate onto one another in the name of “love.” And this is in the home as well as in the church. It’s plain to see from God’s holy Word that the first couple after they fell to sin, they automatically began to abuse each other. How? Through blame. Through accusation. Through condemnation. All of these things are not of the Spirit of God Who’s fruit is love, peace, joy, temperance, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, kindness. These things are of the spirit of Satan who is the “accuser of the brethren.”

Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore NOW (this very moment) NO condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, and who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.”Let us not continue to be those who work for satan by allowing him to use us to condemn our loved ones and friends, family, church family, etc., causing them to be wounded and bruised emotionally. We can choose to allow the fruit of the Spirit to come forth instead and bring life and blessing into the lives of other people. We CAN silence the voice of the “accuser of the brethren” and allow the voice of Love to speak boldly to encourage and bring life.
