Knowledge is readily available, sometimes in obscure places but mostly on the open market. It can be readily and easily acquired with money. Knowledge abounds everywhere. It can be taught, imparted, and read. But revelation is scarce and comes only by the inspiration of God’s Spirit. Revelation is what makes you see the same thing in a different light.
Revelation clarifies a mystery; it brings new understanding to an obscure situation or to something you have been too familiar with. It does not come by much reading or much accumulation of knowledge. It comes by the touch of the Holy Spirit. Apostle Paul echoes this truth in Ephesians 3:3-5: “How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery . . . Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.”
Revelation comes when you learn to flow with the Holy Spirit. Your assignment may be a mystery to you, but nothing is a mystery to the Holy Spirit because he knows all things, and there is nothing hid from him. He knows the specific will of God for your life. All you need to do is to trust him with your life, and he will guide you onto the path of your assignment by revelation. The Bible says in Luke 2:25-27: “And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord’s Christ.” The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of revelation. Do you have the Holy Spirit living in you, and you are still ignorant about God’s assignment for your life? Revelation is something that happens at the spur of the moment. The Holy Spirit drops into your spirit what you need to know, and your spirit relays this message to your mind. The Holy Spirit can choose several ways of revealing something to you. It can come by a still small voice, it can be by an inward witness or premonition whereby you just know in your heart what is transmitted, or it can be by a vision, etc.
