“Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.” (Isaiah 1:18 NKJV)

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV)

With this being my first attempt in interpreting scripture, I thought I'd pick my favorite two. Why are they that to me? Because simply...they speak to me. Other verses make an impression, but these are the ones that come to my mind daily, especially when I need to pray.

In Isaiah, and most of the Old Testament, I believe God is laying the framework for the coming of the Messiah. Very few blessed individuals actually spoke directly to God, and even Moses wasn't allowed to see His face. In that one verse, God calls for us to “reason” with Him which means we can talk to Him, and He with us, in the form of Jesus Christ. I take the Bible literally, and If Jesus says He will dine with me, then he will dine with me. I don't know exactly what form that meeting will take, but I know and believe with all my heart, my soul and my might, that He will be there, if only I call His name.

Yet, to have this honor there is a price to be paid. We are commanded by God to cease to do evil and learn to do good. We must always seek justice for the oppressed and rebuke the oppressor. If we also defend the fatherless and plead for the widow, then God will shine on us, and mercy and justice will follow us all the days of our lives. And all this...is a trying concept, especially when you don't particularly like the person or persons you must defend.

Jesus answered that in Matthew 25:40. He said:

“In as much as you did it to the least of these My brethren, you did it to (for) Me.” Our personal feelings on the matter carry no weight with Jesus; never has, never will.

To sum up, I'm reminded of a saying prevalent on a website I frequent. It's called The All Nations Cafe.com, and I visit it once a week, just to see how these young Jerusalem Believers are doing. It goes:

“Out beyond the forest of the ideas of what is right doing and what is wrong doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.”

I know that its not in the Bible, and Jesus never said it, but it's another verse that speaks to me daily.
