PATIENCE – One of God’s Training Tools

Psalm 40: 1-3 – “I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and hear and put their trust in the LORD. “

Does God hear our prayers? Yes…period! Will He act on those prayers? Yes or no, depending on the one asking. If you are honoring God, and you are in a solid relationship with Him, He will do two things: First, if you are putting Him first (“Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven”), then He promises to meet all of your daily bread needs. That is to say that God promises to provide for you - food, clothing and shelter.

Beyond that, God wants to bless you and me financially, but He may have a problem with you in certain areas of your life that need attention.. To that end, God’s plans include fixing your problems before He can trust you with more - in the way of more of His blessings.

I can tell you that God has trained me. I now trust Him. “I waited patiently for the Lord”…as the Psalmist, David wrote. He turned to me (after 16 months) and heard my cry. He allowed me to go through a lot of pain, sweat, anguish, loss…so He could get my undivided attention. Then, about 16 months into my training program, God “lifted me out of that slimy pit of mud and slippery clay, and set my feet on solid ground.” He gave me a solid foundation to build from. That solid foundation is His Word. I’m in it daily. I seek first the things of God, and then He took care of my daily bread needs.

God put a new song in my mouth. No more did I get depressed. No more did I feel sorry for myself. No more did I stress out over daily bread issues. No more did I have to face FEARS that Satan tossed at me almost on a daily basis. No more did I have sleepless nights. All of that is behind me because God showed me that He is trustworthy. Therefore, He has trained me to develop patience in Him, and trust in Him. From there, the road is always straight and He leads and guides me daily.

As a result of that training program, “Many will see and hear and put their trust in the LORD. “Many have, so far, and will continue to see and hear how God is the ONLY ONE whom we can trust…in whom there is no FEAR. They hear through my testimony here and on other sites.

Ask God to teach you patience.
