1) Goodness:
One of the foremost vital supplements of Christian faith is “Goodness”. Goodness is one of the major characteristics of Our Lord God Almighty and one of most important Fruit of the Holy Spirit. When Bible teaches us to add goodness to our faith, it simply commands us to follow the example of our Lord God Almighty. Just as our Father in the Heaven is abounding and rich in goodness who does not exemplifies favoritism based on sect, class, race, sex & languages rather His goodness is universal, unchanging and unbiased in its nature and so we as His children should be neither judgmental nor biased rather God wants us to consciously or steadily maintain been good towards others even if others have been evil, harmful, disrespectful and judgmental towards us. Just as God’s goodness does not cease to flow towards us even when we disown him, reject him and sin against him; we also as His children should not be defeated by evil but overcome evil by doing good.
2) Knowledge:
Knowledge may be defined as acquaintance with facts, truths, or principles. Bible declares that fear of the Lord is the beginning of the knowledge- The knowledge that has been revealed unto us by the author and finisher of our faith through His Holy Spirit to the various men of God over thousand of years and has been accumulated into a single book known as, “The Holy Bible”- It contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of Salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Through the acquaintance of the knowledge from the Bible we come to know God’s plan and purposes of our individual life as well as that of the whole mankind and the knowledge of the Bible helps us to gain life over death, good over evil, humbleness over pride, holiness over sin, blessings over curses, prosperity over poverty, health over sickness, heaven over hell, love over hatred, acceptance over rejection, forgiveness over unforgiveness, justice over injustice, righteousness over unrighteousness, sound mind over corruptible/carnal mind with a end result of transformation of ourselves in the image and likeness of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus.
The Lord Almighty considers the knowledge of the world as foolishness and thwarts the cleverness of the intelligent and therefore He warns, ““Wise people should not boast that they are wise. Powerful people should not boast that they are powerful. Rich people should not boast that they are rich. If people want to boast, they should boast about this: They should boast that they understand and know me. They should boast that they know and understand that I, the Lord, act out of faithfulness, fairness, and justice in the earth and that I desire people to do these things.”
The knowledge of the Lord’s word keeps us safe from sinning, judging, condemning, and overcoming evil which in turn helps us to develop self control in all the areas of our life.
3) Self- Control:
Self Control means control or restraint of oneself or one's actions, feelings, etc. One can only get developed in self-control if it’s prerequisite, “The Knowledge of the God’s Word” has been well fed into our hearts and mind that helps us to overcome all the fiery darts from the enemy of our soul, “Satan”. It was seeds of the Lord’s holy fear that gave the fruit of self -control in the life of Joseph that when he was tempted by the wife of Potiphar he ran away for the lustful desire of the women and kept himself safe from sinning. Self-Control helps us to; become patient, defeat the temptations that come our way, overcome the works of the flesh, help us grow as we should in Christ and helps us to be in the will of God and strengthen us to bear our cross and walk faithfully after the Shepherd our Soul.
All the Disciples of Christ Jesus should practice Self –Control for without it one can easily fall prey to the roaring lion, Satan who is ever ready to devour anyone whom he can.
4) Perseverance:
Perseverance means steady persistence in adhering to a course of action, a belief, or a purpose; steadfastness. Perseverance helps us to learn, develop, grow and mature in Christ’s discipleship, so that the fruits of righteousness that glorifies our Father in the heaven can be produced by Church of Christ. It was the Perseverance of the Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that He patiently endured the painful sufferings and agonizing death on the cross of Calvary for He knew God’s plan of Salvation.
Perseverance helps us to gain experience during trials, temptations and testing times of our faith. It helps us to learn on how to rely more upon God’s power and wisdom and wait upon the Lord- for if we suffer according to will of God it brings God’s approval and his approval creates hope which does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God’s gift to us.
Perseverance helps us to us lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily beset us, through the hearing and keeping of the word of God that helps us to run the race that is set before us. Patience keeps us from becoming weary and helps us to keep on doing well that promises glory, honor, immortality and eternal life with Christ Jesus. Patience helps believers to wait upon the Lord for revealing God’s favor, justice and righteousness; it assures believers for the second coming of Christ Jesus; helps to inherit the promises of God Almighty.
Perseverance helps to become humble, low and meek under the hand of the Almighty and gives us grace to be patient with our fellow brother and sister’s in Christ Jesus in forgiving them their sins, overcoming rejection, hatred and evil which in turn helps us to keep in course in the narrow path that leads us into life eternal.
5) Godliness:
Godliness means to be righteous. To be righteous means to be washed, cleansed and being sanctified by the blood of Christ Jesus and through His Word. Righteousness is not being ritualistic, religious, following ones own conscience or of doing ones Karma as many do and think that by doing so they can have salvation and inherit the Heaven. But as the Bible says, but now we have righteousness from God, apart from the law: this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Once being freely justified by God in Christ Jesus, it’s the Holy Spirit of God that guides, counsel and minister our day today live and every area of our lives in such a way that we will follow the commandments of the Lord Almighty not out of compulsion but that out of love and holy reverence acknowledging Christ as our King, Lord and Saviour.
Godliness means to have pure heart which loves, believes, honors, abides, fear the Lord Almighty and confides in His Word. A pure heart is cleansed, purified and filled with the Spirit of God with an ultimate goal to do the will of God and thereby bring glory, honor and praise to the Lord Almighty.
6) Brotherly Kindness:
By being brotherly kindness God Almighty demands from us to remember and not forget that as He has been kind towards us while dealing with us in our shortcomings, failures and sins; so should we become like him while dealing with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and with the unbelievers. Just as God demonstrates His patience towards us so should we also be more patient, considerate and humane for our fellow brother and sister’s in Christ Jesus. Brotherly Kindness helps us to love another, tarry each other’s burden, consider others better then us, seek good and overcome evil, helps us to think good for others so that they might be saved, helps us to live in peace with everyone, makes us humble towards each other looking out for one another’s interests, it helps us to get rid of anger, passion, and hateful feelings, insults or obscene talks and lying; makes us persistent in prayers giving thanks to God, helps us to warn the idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone, makes us joyful and thankful in all circumstances keeping our life in union with Christ Jesus which shall testify that we are not the hearers of the Word of God but also are the doers of the Word of God. That our faith in not only in words but is in action too. For God wants us to be transferred and transformed in the image and likeness of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ and so just as He is full of Kindness so we must all be as His disciples.
7) Love:
Love is the essence and “The Source” of Christian life. The Love that the Bible testifies and promotes is not as the worldly love, the Love that Bible testifies is the Love that is Un-conditional, Agape, Holy, Pure, Sacrificial, and Un-changing. And this is the Love that the Spirit of God wants to produces in every born-again Christian’s life and witness the same to the world. Lord wants us to love our fellow brother and sister’s in Christ Jesus in such a fashion that it will bring Healing, Deliverance and Restoration to them from all those things that their sinful human nature desires and craves for. God wants us to condemn the Sin but love the sinners for God has also done the same for us, if we do so, then only our Faith in Christ Jesus is professed in its trueness and totality. God wants our Love to be pure and in action and not only in words; Pure doesn’t force itself on others, it doesn’t need recognition, acceptability, favoritism rather pure love is always recognizing other’s, accepting others as they are, forgiving others, ministering others and free from human feelings, emotions, reasoning and judging power.
God is love and His love is patient and Kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongdoings; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and love is eternal.
