I have been everywhere and nowhere
All in the same place
Searching and yearning
To understand grace
Is it something I need ?
Or just my excuse ?
Will it only help me
Be farther from You?
I like sympathy
And I confess I am afraid.
I fear finding You easy
And disrespecting what You paid.
Hold me close, Lord
I love to fall
In my heart I confess, You reign not over all.
And I fear anything that would help it be easier
On me,
That might block the fire
That would help me see.
You know what I need
We both know what I deserve,
Let grace be always
In lessons learned
In this place called nowhere
I find
Everywhere.

Sarah, I smiled as I read you poem..which is excellent, by the way. I smiled because I saw myself in your delima of trying to understand grace...and isn't grace amazing? You said it very clearly....we don't get what we deserve, and thank God for that. When we embrace God's grace, we get so much more than we could ever imagine....love, joy, peace,hope...in this life, and then...eternity with the Giver of grace.
