How are you coming along with the New Year's Resolutions? Most folks attempt to laugh away the concept as mere wishful thinking. Resolutions made while inebriated, or while undergoing some self or other imposed guilt trip will prove to be little more than wishful thinking if even that.

Yet firm convictions about change, change of attitude, actions and direction can make a world, even an eternity of positive difference in our life and those around us and in some cases millions of people on earth.

It's a good idea to make a list of very important things you want to accomplish in 2010. No matter the length of your list there is one decision you must make and stick to or all the lists on earth will fail and your busy work will be in vain.

This most important detail on any list is noted by the Old and New Testaments, as well as philosophers of all ages. I know of no religious or ethical systems that fail to pay attention to this principle. If you fail to factor in this principle you will fail to even come close to the potential the Good Lord entrusted to you.

In "The Fellowship of The Ring" Gandalf says to Frodo:

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time we are given."

The poorest and the richest man each have 24 hours per day to live a dynamic life or to just live. The wise apportionment of time to things deemed important will make a dramatic difference in the quality of the life you are living.

I spent quite a bit of time over the holidays fretting over a project that turned out to involve a massive amount of time gathering a vast number of pages of case/copy related to a fraudulent offer. As I fretted the sweet and gentle Great Blonde whom I married in the days of my youth, said to me in a rather "huffy" tone, "Oh, Larry for crying out loud, take the information you already have and make adjustments to turn it into a book warning others." If you enjoy fretting about things my advice to you is to avoid at all costs the deed of marrying an intelligent blonde.

Christ gives a brief but powerful lesson on not letting important things pull us away from the most important, realizing "keeping the main thing, the main thing, is the main thing."

Luke 2:49 "And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?"

I wage constant warfare between what needs to be done and what I am called to do. Jesus sheds light on the direction the decision must take.
