The thought is overwhelming
That you my Lord, might choose to bring,
Staggering pain and anguish,
Causing mind and spirit to impoverish.
You who in a blink of an eye,
Could bring disaster; chose instead to crucify,
Yourself, inhumanly nailed upon
Your sweet creation: a tree of brawn.
The cross, a crucifix You chose
As an vehicle for sin, so finally to dispose.
The purpose being most simply
A chance, to once more gather me,
To your boundless love,
Holding and caressing me from up above.
Then humbling Yourself as man,
Thus fulfilling your great and perfect plan.
You took sin upon your being,
Once and for all, acquitting and then freeing
The world so that we could,
Share with you, life that comes from “Wood.”
The cross the instrument,
You chose with purpose and full intent.
Willingly suffering tenaciously,
So I might be saved, by this final decree.
So today I can draw near,
Covered in the blood, of a Savior so dear.
The creator, who became,
Son and Spirit, all one and the same.
Adrienne Gallagher Dominici 1999
……by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of His blood on the cross. This includes you who were once so far away from God. Colossians 1:20-21
What separates us from God? Only one thing sin. God hates sin, He is unable to even gaze upon it. Imagine for a moment, think of something so detestable that you can barely stand to think about it let alone look at it. For each of us that image is most likely different, but the intensity of the repugnance is probably the same. God feels an even deeper revulsion concerning sin. Not just the “big ones” as the world deems, but the “little ones,” there is no “ degree” concerning sin. The degree is found in the consequence of our sin. Notwithstanding, God has absolutely no tolerance for sin. Tolerance is found in His love, grace, and mercy. This tolerant love for us is what caused Jesus to go to the cross. This great “despiser” of sin, so loved you and I that He established a way to look upon sinful man. There must be a death of sin. Now how shall that be accomplished? The price for sin is death God decreed that long age. So now there must be one sweeping payment for this abominable thing, God decreed.
But, who shall pay this inestimable price? God will. So God incarnate walked the earth, provided priceless example for us concerning love and then went to the cross to pay the ultimate price, which then would allow Him to look upon sinful man without disdain. The thing that saves us from God’s contempt is the blood of His precious Son Jesus. The very Blood of Christ, the great Ransom, covers anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his or her life.
Are you covered in the Blood of Jesus Christ?
