"if you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth," (Proverbs 06:02)
This verse is part of some advice a father is giving to his son. The father is warning the son about a very common problem most of us have. We get into trouble because of what we have said. We have been trapped by our words. Maybe in haste we have made a commitment we can't keep, or have let a confidence slip out. Words are powerful, and can be dangerous. Once we have spoken them words cannot be taken back. They are out there in time and space, so what do we do? The Father's counsel is to quickly make amends so that we can get out of the trap of our own making. Maybe you have to say I'm sorry, or forgive me. Those are words that will free you. Use them.
