For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; (Proverbs 01:32)

There are two categories of persons in Proverbs who are especially noted as facing difficulty. They are the "simple" and "fools". As the terms are used here they refer to people who do not know the way of the LORD, and who resist learning. The result of their lack of understanding and knowledge, and their failure to acquire wisdom destines them to hardship and destruction. If they continue to resist wisdom their own actions will kill them. I believe you could pick up any newspaper in the country and find several stories about people whose life choices have killed them or destroyed their families. Waywardness is a matter of being on the wrong course in life; complacency is not giving attention to which course you are taking. Being "simple" and being a "fool" are conditions that can be remedied by seeking wisdom. The good news is that the LORD has promised to give wisdom to those who ask. So …ASK! (whenisell@aol/com}
