Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. He shall receive
a blessing from the LORD And righteousness from the God of his salvation Psalms 24:3-5
Who May Ascend?
Lord I do not deserve,
even a look from you,
Yet sweetly You call,
Never bidding me adieu.
Lord, I am not worthy,
To be given any thought.
I’m the most sinful man,
Satan has ever wrought.
Leave me, Lord, avert
Your sight away from me.
I am not worth a moment
Of Your exalted generosity.
Your steadfast regard of
Me, is truly quite absurd.
For I’m the wicked man
Found all through the Word.
I am a captive of Satan,
His chains bind me even now.
Oh, Lord I long for rescue,
Lord; please confide in me how
Can I gain my freedom?
And stand in Your good will?
I long to be Your servant,
As Your word I gladly fulfill.
“For I so love the world,
and you I sacrificed my Son,
If you would but embrace
Him my utmost will is done.”
Thank you Redeemer Jesus,
Your death has made me whole,
Thank, God for this Cross-,
That liberates my wretched soul.

“Who among you is without sin?” Jesus asked of the Magdalene crowd. This tells us that He understood our sinful nature. Jesus, who was fully God and fully man, makes it so clear He understood our impotence to resist sin. As God the Father it was eminently clear that we were ruled by our sin nature, Jesus as a man had a crystalline experience with the author of sin during His time in the desert.
I was thunderstruck the very first time I clearly realized that Jesus understood without a modicum of doubt that even when we truly fathomed His crucifixion sacrifice we would continue to fall prey to sin. It is our human nature. Therefore, His dying was not to stop sin, but to pay the price for all of our sins, past, present and future. My heart breaks every time I reflect upon that concept, and yet I am among the worst of sinners. I can not go a day without succumbing to the schemes of Satan.
So through my tears I gratefully cry out to my precious Redeemer, thanking Him for His abundant, unfailing grace and mercy.
Who can stand before thee? Only those who gladly embrace Your living sacrificial Lamb, Jesus Christ, Redeemer and Lover of our soul. Glory and honor and praise to the Lamb who sits upon the Throne, for He alone is our Salvation.
