MINISTRY ISRAEL- 2000-2009.
In a few weeks, Brit B’ Mashiach Ministries will celebrate its 9th year as a congregation in Tel Aviv. How did this modern day ‘Act of God’ in the Holy Land happen? Well here is the way; one way God used us. Contact a few unknown, not wealthy, young women and men with a heart to learn about God. Study the bible with them each Friday night in a home environment for a year. Allow them to plan and use their gifts. Ask for the use of a hall and hold Shabbat Services each week. Pray much, preach the Word, and trust God to build. Concentrate on teaching and practicing right prayer and the Word! Encourage unity.
I would not suggest that you plant a church in an area prone to war, terrorist attacks, high crime rates, rampant poverty, alcoholism and drugs; an area with high incidences of homelessness and the hostility of neighbors. Unless that is, one has a burden from the Lord, His ‘Go’ and are prepared to see it through regardless!
Over the years we have experienced bombings and death, police crack downs, financial difficulties and nagging doubts. But we have stayed the course, and God has been with us every step of the way. It is true to say, that without Yeshua we would have failed. Many suspected that we would never survive. Indeed we ourselves never thought we could overcome the sometimes overwhelming pressures, trials, disappointments and fears. The environment was just too unfriendly. But, we never gave up!
The street on which we hold worship services is, as the Guest Speaker for the 8th year anniversary, Pastor Shmuel said, “…the worst street in the middle east!” As he walked passed night clubs and shocking scenes or immorality into the church, he wondered why anyone would be led to plant a work in such a place. However, when he got into the building and observed the worship and peace that Yeshua provided during the service, he began to understand that God wants to influence even the darkest corner of our planet earth. The international congregation was treated to many spectacular activities. God has chosen the despised, unrecognized and seemingly ‘foolish,’ to shame the plans of satan in the Holy Land!
What exactly has been done over the years?
1. We have fed and clothed thousands of Israelis.
2. We have loved them and cried with them through wars and terrorism.
3. We have comforted their poor and nurtured the elderly and sick.
4. We have provided basics including clothing and shelter for the homeless and single mothers.
5. We have presented the Love of Yeshua as faithfully as we could and brought hope to thousands of God’s Covenant people.
We have been involved. Not from a distance, but right in the Holy Land. Through sacrificial giving, relinquishing many rights and privileges and maintaining an attitude of humility, we have fought to be true friends to the Jewish people. Yeshua has been our example, encouraging us to always do good and turn the other cheek.
Please pray for all the congregations of Messiah in the Holy Land as they boldly proclaim the Word of Eternal Life, withstand persecution and contemplate the reality of war. The Lord increase the fruits of your labour and bless you exceedingly! All Glory to the Lord!
